Café de los Angelitos was, during more than a century, one of the most traditional cafes in Buenos Aires, Created in 1890, and under the name of Bar Rivadavia, it soon became the meeting place for poets, musicians and imporivising folk singers of "payadores", who shared the tables with syndlers, thugs and pimps. The story goes that the district police commissioner would ironically call the latter group "little angels". This nickname became so popular that some years later, in 1920, the place definitely received its current name.
