It is the music of Buenos Aires par excellence. Its origins are traced back to 1880 and its birthplace where the slums, inhabited by Italian and Spanish immigrants, Africans and “gauchos”. From this racial mix appeared the “compadritos” (small-time hoods) who tried to reflect in their music, their letters and their dance the typical “cuchilleros” (knife fighters) duel characteristic of their social ambiance. Their music appears as a mix of Cuban and Spanish rhythms, some polka and a bit of African music. Their lyrics, difficult to be understood and impossible to be translated, are deeply poetic and have a story to tell about the city, its history and its people.

Buenos Aires
This cosmopolitan city, -the cradle of tango- as it is called, can be a superlative introduction to your exploration of Argentina. What is certain is that this cosmopolitan city, European in appearance, can keep any culture-oriented visitor busy indefinitely. Different aspects of its architecture and the diversity of its districts and suburbs reflect times of grandeur and plenty, cultural influences and migratory waves. Buenos Aires has been a true melting pot of native inhabitants, Spanish, Italian, British, French, German, Central European, Jewish, Arabian, Greek, Japanese and more recently, Chinese and Korean immigrants. It is evident that this city has a very active nightlife. An excellent opportunity for us to show you around the best tango, Argentine folk music and even help you take tango lessons if you wish.
Gastronomically speaking Buenos Aires can be a constant pleasure with two main highlights: world-famous steaks (some local gourmets point out, that Patagonian lamb is even more outstanding, although much harder to find) and its first class wines and champagnes which will surprise for their excellency; we will even organize a wine-tasting session.
Nature reserves, in downtown Buenos Aires and natural history museums offer a great opportunity to get acquainted with the local flora and fauna or even birdwatching. The Amazonian jungle penetrates into Argentina along the banks of the major rivers. Part of the tropical rainforest reaches at the doors of Buenos Aires City, especially at the Great Delta, only 12 miles north. This is another exciting visit just a few minutes from downtown.
