Aguas Calientes

These hot springs are located 38 km from Varvarco, at 2000 m.a.s.l. Of volcanic origin, these Quaternary springs are characterized by the presence of mud and alkaline water with a pH of 7.7 of sodium chloride type, and with temperatures ranging from 40 to 80ºC.

Aguas Calientes

There are two river beds: the main one is the warmest, with waterfalls under which a natural massage can be enjoyed. The smaller one brings water almost to a boiling point. This water falls into a natural pool, mixing with its water and heating it.

In Aguas Calientes there is a field used as a campsite and some cabins. If the idea is to stay overnight to enjoy night thermal baths, it is advisable to get enough information and book in advance from Varvarco or Andacollo, since the supply is in high demand.

In Las Olletas, El Humazo, Los Tachos and Rincón de las Papas –at the foot of Domuyo Peak- there are more geysers and hot springs. The vastness of the North serves as a meeting point between fire and ice, cold and heat, as if it was a geology lesson given by the very Domuyo. There are signs all along the paths showing the way to the thermal springs.
