This hotel on Florida Street is a great location. WIthin walking distance to several Downtown locations, shopping is within a few feet. Also right outside the door is an entrace to the BA subway which can take you to many other tourist places. The rooms were spacious and had an odd key system when entering the room. Once you enter the room, you have to slide your key into a slot on the wall to turn on all the electricity to the room. Very good for the hotel to save on wasted electricity. The bathrooms were spacious, but the shower was oddly narrow and the shower head was low. We are average size people so it did not bother us. A larger person would have difficulty showering comfortably. It was a treat to watch the Coriolis Effect in motion when flushing the toilet.
The breakfast buffet was nice and consisted of eggs, bacon, ham, crossants, fresh fruit, and TONS of Dulce de Leche. Highly recommend the OJ, very good. McDonalds across the street if needed.
The staff was helpful, they held our luggage for us when we arrived early on the morning of our checkin until our room was ready. There are two complimentary computers with internet in the lobby. It is true that the hotel does not have curb access, our taxi driver knew where to drop us off and it was a short 1 minute walk to the Hotel Entrance with the lobby located on the 2nd floor above some stores. The plus side to this is no loud traffice noise and it is easy to come and go out of the hotel if you are are walking to any of the nearby locations. We found several Very good restaurants in the area that had very cheap local argentine specialties plus you can purchase a full bottle of wine in these places for about $8 US.
My wife and I travel constantly. We're learned that you judge a hotel by how it handles difficulties, rather than when everything is going well. When we arrived at this hotel, they were dealing with an unforeseen water problem that affected an entire floor. Nevertheless, they responded positively to us and somehow, although the hotel was full, found a room for us.
Sebastian Tobias Cordoba, the manager, handled our stay in a completely professional way. The rooms were nice, room service was great, and the food was good. For the price, this hotel was incredible. If we return to BA any time soon, we will not even shop for a hotel. We'll stay at the Howard Johnson there.
The front desk staff, alone, gives reason for this hotel to be proud. Great people
I booked the HoJo on Florida after reading the reviews here on Tripadvisor. Most of the reviews are spot-on. This is a conveniently located hotel that offers clean, comfortable rooms for a nice price. The hotel is right on Avenida Florida at Plaza San Martin and within easy walking distance of many of BA's tourist attractions. We easily walked to Puerto Madero and Recoleta from here though you can also catch a cab for next to nothing.
The only trick with this hotel is that you cannot pull directly in front of it, you must walk about 100 feet from one of the streets on either side of it.
The hotel does well at offering the most basic needs - a safe, clean, QUIET, reasonably priced room and a friendly, helpful staff. Though the location is generally safe Av. Florida does have its share of beggars and vagrants. The hotel has security at the door at all times and they are always watching out for you. We experienced no problems at all and felt very safe.
We liked our room and would stay here again without question. While not a luxury hotel it also costs half as much as the nearby Marriott, Hilton, and Sheraton and will easily meet with most travelers approval. Our teenagers had the free breakfast one morning and did not recommend it. No matter, there is a McDonald's literally 20 feet from the door if you need a quick, cheap breakfast. The hotel also offers two free internet connections in the lobby which came in very handy.
