Very nice hotel staff, but Martin (tall & blondish) speaks the best English. They'll phone in reservations, call
for taxis, and assist in booking tours. All very willing to help in any way, including maids (no English).
Internet is free to use anytime. Will store luggage free when you have an evening departure. Breakfast is
usual European fare, plus yogurt, 3 dry cereals, strong coffee, juices and fresh fruit. Place
is clean from top to bottom; never saw a bug anywhere and carpet looks new. English TV on 8 channels. Plenty of
hot water and big towels, even a phone in bath. Good central location: 8 blocks from Obelisk, 4 to American
Express Building, 8 to Pacifico Galleria and Teatro Colon. All tours pick up and deliver right in front of
the door. Noise from the street can be heard at night, but sleep comes quickly from all the walking, so it was no real problem. Did notice a couple of things, like the drapes need to be replaced and the pillows are like bricks, but overall my stay was better than expected for the price, and it was because the staff was really so very, very nice.
The Embajador Hotel proved to be an excellent choice as the least expensive option on a package deal to Buenos Aires. The rooms are nothing special, but are clean and serviceable. The breakfasts (included) were fine - plenty of choices. What makes this hotel shine is it's staff, who couldn't be more accommodating. They provided a room change for friends who found the original room inconvenient - they provided advice as to what to see, how to get there (gave us maps that were highlighted to show the route) and complied with every request happily and efficiently. The Embajador is in an excellent location - blocks from the Teatro Colon, just one block from Santa Fe Avenue (for unbelievable shopping), very close to the Recoleto and on the widest street in the world. Yes, you could hear traffic, but it wasn't deafening - and we were in the front of the hotel facing the street. All in all, it was the perfect place to spend a week without breaking the bank on accommodations.
