Castelar Hotel & Spa Buenos Aires

Avenida de Mayo 1152
Buenos Aires - Argentina
We stayed at the Hotel Castelar for 1 night in mid February and really enjoyed it. I was suprised at the negative reviews written about this hotel as our experience was great. The hotel is old (built in the 1920's) however I believe it was well maintained. Check-in process was a bit slow, however adequate. We had room 304 which was very nice. It faced the street (Avenida Mayo) and you could hear the traffic, but did not keep us awake. The breakfast was very nice, buffet with various croissants, cold cuts, scrambled eggs, etc.. Room was clean with new carpet, separate entryway, minibar and remodeled bathroom. The lobby was nice with marble and brass accents. I definately would stay here again and highly reccomend it.
I stayed here for 3 nights the service is excellent very clean for a much older hotel. This hotel was built in the 1920's and is very Argentine in feel.
The rooms are a bit small by American standards, however this service is excellent. The hotel is within walking distance of 2 banks and several resturants in the area. I would definatly stay here again.
We stayd here for a week. Good location to get into the main area - 1/2 block off the Main Street. And subway is right outside front door. Get an upper floor as noisy at night. Air conditioner worked so-so. Hotel was rather dark, as so many old hotels are, but in good condition. Breakfast ok with bread, coffee, fruit, and scrambled eggs. But same every morning.
For a night, not a bad place - but not luxurious.
