My husband and I recently visited Buenos Aires and stayed at Soho All Suites in Palermo Soho. It was a terrific boutique hotel in the perfect location. Prior to arrival, we communicated with the staff via e-mail. They arranged for an airport transfer, verified our reservations and guaranteed a late check out. We had a few questions, which were all answered within a few hours of sending the e-mails.
Upon arrival, we found the hotel to be simple, chic and quiet. Our room, the basic suite, was clean, large and comfortable. We did not upgrade to a room with a balcony, but did not miss that feature since the hotel had a nice courtyard and roof top deck with lounge furniture. The room rate was very reasonable compared to other destinations. About 1/3 to 1/2 of what you'd expect to pay in Miami Beach, Chicago, NYC, Boston, LA......etc.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, all spoke English very well and were happy to help us practice our Spanish. They offered recommendations, wrote down translations for us (Argentine Spanish is different from Miami "Spanglish") and arranged for a "take out" picnic from a local cafe on our behalf. We even had a visit from the Easter Bunny, complete with a giant chocolate egg.
The Palermo Soho area was perfect. There must have been 100 restaurants, cafes, wine bars, etc. all within 1 square mile. (We recommend LIMBO, Mott, Bar 6, Jesus, Janio, El Taller to name a few) Very nice shops were near by as well. We felt very safe walking in the area, even at night. The main B.A. attractions were all within a 10 minute cab ride and after seeing those areas (Recoleta, Microcentro, etc) we were very happy to be staying in Palermo. There were more options for dining (and wine drinking) close to the hotel and the area was so much quieter and safer feeling than downtown B.A. (Be cafeful on Calle Florida - there are pickpockets!)
All in all, it was a wonderful visit and we plan to return again within a few years.
My husband and I spent 3 nights on this hotel. The location is great if you want to get to know Palermo Viejo, the Buenos Aires neighborhood that has many cool bars and restaurants. You can walk to most of them.
We made the reservations through their website, and asked for a quiet room. They arranged transportation for us from Ezeiza airport for US$40.
We stayed on the room 202, on their cheaper rate (US$150) - superior suite. They have elevator. The room was very spacious, it even has a bar and a little kitchen with minibar and microwave. It does look like the pictures of the website. The bedroom even has separate doors from the bathroom and a living room area, what gives you total privacy if you have a third person on the room.
Their queen size bed is high quality, the bed linens are very comfortable, and the air conditioner works perfectly.
The room is very silent, had good light if you open the curtains, and has no view (fine for us, silence is what we needed - we like to nap on the late afternoon :) ).
The room was cleaned daily, and they made a good job.
The wi-fi speed was not that great, but still workable.
Their breakfast area is spacious, and you have privacy to eat. Their breakfast buffet is very good. By the way, their decoration is all very neat.
Their staff was always very helpful and non-intrusive. I read some reviews where people mentioned that they are arrogant - I totally disagree, they were just proper, the way most argentinians are. All of them speak English. They didn't give me any extra tourism information than what I had researched myself though.
Another experienced couple staying there told us this is the best boutique hotel, even better than Bobo hotel.
We really enjoyed the experience and would certainly return. After there we went to Casa Las Canitas and it was a total "no no". You can't even compare both places, the price difference is really worthy. Even though we think US$150 plus tax is expensive for a hotel, if you compare it with the other options to stay in Palermo or Las Canitas this seemed to be a good value.
