Territory of reservoirs thanks to the number of
rivers that flow down the mountains, the Valle de Calamuchita
is flanked by the Sierras Chicas in the east and Sierras de
Comechingones in the west, with the magnificent Cerro Champaquí (2,994 metres)
as the highest peak.
Reforestation of important sectors of the area has conferred
it an unique image in the province. This, reinforces the fact of having been a
colonisation centre for European immigrants who tried to organise and re-establish
their cultural and gastronomic traditions here, thus becoming the distinguishing
feature of Calamuchita.
Fishing and every type of water recreational activities can
be practised in its seven reservoirs, among which Cerro Pelado, Río III, Piedras Moras
and Los Molinos should be mentioned.
The diversity in landscape offers appropriate environments for
practising mountain climbing, trekking, nature, adventure and rural
tourism as well as other activities related to the urban and traditional offers.
Among these offers are the national festivals: Fiestas Nacionales de la Cerveza, de
la Masa Vienesa and del Chocolate Alpino in Villa General Belgrano. They are first-class
attractions at provincial and national level. Snow in the highlands is what completes this tourist offer in winter.
The great variety of proposals of Villa General Belgrano, Santa Rosa, La
Cumbrecita, Villa Alpina, Yacanto, Villa Rumipal, Villa del Dique and Embalse
