ANTRY TRIPAY - MAPUCHE SILVERWARE
Trapelacuchas
Mapuche people (Mapu=earth che=people) are native of South America. They are pleaced, since their origin- about 200 years before Colombus arrived to America- in the region that nowadays is covered by the Neuquén, Río Negro and Buenos Aires provinces, as well as the center of Chile. They were great fighters in the ancient time, confronted with Incas, and many years later, against spanish colonizers. But they also learned from them the silver work technics.

Antri Tripai was born in Pehuenia area (Neuquén province). There he lived his infancy with his parents, who still keep their ancient customs. Today he is one of the last Mapuche´s silver workers and makes good quality pieces just using his hands and simple tools. In his works he combines the ancient Mapuche´s silver work with both spanish and gaucho technics.

During the last year his work was exhibited in several showrooms of Argentina and other countries as France, Norway, Germany, etc.
