Chalten is the way the
natives called the area where the Fitz Roy (3376 m.o.s.l)
and Torre (3128 m.o.s.l) peaks are situated.
These are two of the most difficult mountains to claim
in the world, their altitud and vertical drop make it hard even
for the best climbers.
They are situated in the north of
The Glaciers National Park
and show the limit with Chile, from where there is not access to them.
The best time to climb them is mid-Feb to end-March.
Others possble targets nearby include Torre Eger, Cerro Solo,
Poincennot, Guilleaulmet, La Indominado,etc.
